The Parker Padle Level switch operating principle is simple. A detection paddle inside the tank is turned by synchronous motor, the paddle is arrested to rotate by a load of the object to be measured. An actuator fixed on the motor activates a limit switch to stop the motor, providing a detection signal.
A unit is usually located through a bin wall at the top, middle or low level of a bin. During normal operation (no material present) a synchronous motor rotates the paddle at 1 RPM. When this paddle rotation is impeded by material, surrounding the paddle, motor will stall and cause the Micro-switch to change state. (indicating an alarm or control)
Parker Paddle Level switch |
The Parker Paddle Level Switch is an electromechanical level switch designed for level monitoring of bulk materials. The rotating measuring vane is driven by a brushless synchronous motor at one revolution per minute. As product builds up, the paddle rotation is impeded and the resulting motor torque activates the output switch and stops the motor. A spring mechanism reactivates the motor and returns the switch to normal state when the material no longer impedes the paddle rotation. A torque adjusting mechanism eliminates the need for different sized paddles. The Parker Level switch is designed with the industry standard 1-1/4" male NPT connection and unit can be side or top mounted.
The paddle of the sensor rotates 1 time per minute. As the content in the tank fills up and influences the rotation of the paddle to stop, the relay in the sensor activates.
